Terms of Use

Last updated: October 11, 2026

These terms cover Desmaptic: the app for iPhone and iPad, Desmaptic Agent for Mac, the ready-made widgets and pages of the Gallery, the AI skill and this website.

The iPhone and iPad app is licensed to you through the App Store under Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement (“Apple’s EULA”; for customers in the EU and the UK, Apple publishes a version adapted to local law as part of the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions). These terms add the rules specific to Desmaptic. Where they conflict about the app, Apple’s EULA prevails. Desmaptic Agent, the Gallery, the AI skill and this website are licensed under these terms alone.

Who I am

Desmaptic is made by Mikhail Zhukov, an individual software developer in Cyprus (“I”, “me”).

The short version

Agreeing to these terms

By installing or using Desmaptic you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use it. The app links to these terms in Settings and on the Pro screen, and the agent in its General section.

What Desmaptic is

Desmaptic turns an iPhone or iPad into a panel of buttons for your Mac. The app works with Desmaptic Agent, a free app for Mac that you download from this website (desmaptic.com/download); the agent isn’t distributed through the App Store. The app and the agent talk directly over your local network, through an encrypted connection; a new iPhone or iPad is paired with a code that the Mac shows. If you use iCloud, your buttons sync between your iPhone and iPad through your own iCloud account.

License

The app — under Apple’s EULA, on Apple devices that you own or control, as the Usage Rules of the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions allow.

The agent — I give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use it on Macs that you own or control, for personal or business purposes. You may not copy, sell, rent, sublicense or distribute it, or modify or reverse-engineer it, except as far as the law allows despite this.

Scripts and examples. The scripts and examples in the Gallery, the documentation and the AI skill are there for you to use: you may use, copy and change them in your own buttons, but you may not distribute them.

Open source. Desmaptic includes open-source components, for example Sparkle and SwiftNIO in the agent. They come under their own licenses, listed in the app and the agent, and these terms don’t restrict what those licenses allow.

Free and Pro

Free. The agent is free. The iPhone and iPad app is free with up to two profiles, each with two pages. Every kind of button, live widgets, the Gallery, AI assistants and iCloud sync are included.

Pro adds unlimited profiles and pages and lets you reorder pages.

A profile or page beyond the free limits — for example one added from the Gallery or by an AI assistant, or when Pro ends — is never deleted: it stays in your deck, locked, while your deck is over the limits.

Pro belongs to your Apple Account and works on all your iPhones and iPads signed in with it. Pro isn’t shared through Family Sharing. If Pro doesn’t appear on a new device, tap Restore Purchases on the Pro screen.

Buying Pro

Pro is available as:

You buy Pro in the app from Apple, which sells it on my behalf — in the EU, Apple Distribution International Ltd. The price in your currency, with taxes, is shown on the Pro screen and by Apple before you confirm. Prices differ between countries and may change; a change never affects a payment you’ve already made. I never see your payment details.

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel them. Apple charges for the next period up to 24 hours before it starts, so to avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends: on your iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. After you cancel, Pro stays until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app doesn’t cancel a subscription. If the price of a subscription goes up, Apple tells you in advance and, where required, asks for your consent.

Lifetime is a single payment: it doesn’t renew and doesn’t expire (unless Apple refunds it). Pro stays unlocked on your Apple Account for as long as you use Desmaptic — there’s no Desmaptic server and nothing that I could switch off. Lifetime gets every update that the subscriptions get. If I ever stop developing Desmaptic, I’ll announce it on this website at least 3 months in advance. The app and the agent you have will keep working with Pro, but without updates, so they may stop working with a later version of iOS or macOS; and once the app is no longer on the App Store, you may not be able to download it again.

Cancelling a purchase and refunds

Apple handles cancellations and refunds of Pro.

This doesn’t affect your rights if Pro doesn’t work as described (see “Your rights as a consumer”).

Your buttons run on your Mac

Buttons can run shell commands and scripts, AppleScript and Shortcuts, press keys, type text, run system actions and open apps and links. Live widgets run their scripts by themselves while your iPhone or iPad is connected — the widgets on every page of the profile you’re on, including pages that are locked or not on screen. All of this runs on your Mac with your macOS user account’s permissions, so a script can do anything your account can: change or delete files, send data over the internet, make macOS ask for permissions on the agent’s behalf.

AI assistants (optional)

You can connect an AI assistant app — for example Claude, ChatGPT or Codex, or another app that supports the Model Context Protocol — to the agent. A connected assistant can read your buttons, including their scripts; see the apps on your Mac and which one is in front, the names of your Shortcuts, what your live buttons show and how their scripts are doing; restart a live widget’s script that is already on your deck; and propose new or changed buttons, pages and profiles. Each proposal waits for you on your iPhone or iPad, and nothing changes until you accept it. If you turn on “Allow AI to Run Commands” in the agent (it’s off by default), the assistant can also ask to run a one-off command on your Mac; it runs only after you allow it on your iPhone or iPad, and the assistant gets its output.

Some assistant apps, such as Claude Code and Codex, can also run commands on your Mac by themselves, without Desmaptic; that is between you and the assistant app.

An AI assistant can be wrong. What you accept or allow is your decision. Your use of an assistant is governed by its provider’s terms and privacy policy; I’m not a party to them. What an assistant can see is described in the Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Use Desmaptic only with devices that you own or are allowed to control. Don’t use it:

Third-party services

Desmaptic works with services that I don’t provide: the App Store, iCloud and push notifications (Apple); GitHub, which hosts this website and the agent’s downloads and updates; AI assistants you connect; and the websites and services that your buttons and widgets use. They have their own terms, and you must comply with the terms that apply when you use them through Desmaptic. I’m not responsible for these services or their availability.

Updates and support

The app updates through the App Store. The agent checks for updates once a day and installs them when you agree (or automatically, if you choose that in its update window). Updates fix problems and keep Desmaptic working with new versions of iOS and macOS; some problems can only be fixed by an update, so please install them. Support is by email at support@desmaptic.com.

Intellectual property

The Desmaptic name and logo, the apps, the Gallery, the documentation and this website are mine, apart from the open-source components mentioned under “License”. Names of other apps and services in Desmaptic — for example in the Gallery’s pages for apps — belong to their owners; Desmaptic isn’t affiliated with or endorsed by them.

Your rights as a consumer

If you’re a consumer, you have the rights that the law of your country gives you, and these terms don’t limit them. In the EU, these include the right to digital content that works as described and as you can reasonably expect — for at least two years after a one-time purchase and for the whole period of a subscription — and, if it doesn’t, to have it fixed, or to get a price reduction or your money back. Where anything in these terms conflicts with those rights, your rights prevail.

Warranty and liability

For the iPhone and iPad app, warranty and liability are set by Apple’s EULA. For the agent, the Gallery, the AI skill and this website, which are free:

Stopping

You can stop using Desmaptic at any time: delete the app and the agent (the Privacy Policy says what they leave behind and how to remove it), and cancel your subscription.

If you seriously breach these terms — for example, by using Desmaptic against other people or systems, or by getting around paying for Pro — your license ends and you must stop using Desmaptic.

Changes to these terms

I may change these terms when Desmaptic, the App Store’s rules or the law change. The new version appears on this page with a new date, and I mention important changes in the release notes of the app or the agent at least 30 days before they apply. A change never takes away what you’ve already paid for: the subscription period you’ve paid or your Lifetime purchase. If you don’t agree with a change, you can stop using Desmaptic and cancel your subscription before the change applies; if you keep using Desmaptic after that, the new version applies.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Cyprus. If you’re a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. A consumer in the EU can bring a claim in the courts where they live or in Cyprus, and I can bring a claim against a consumer only in the courts where they live.

If something goes wrong, please write to me first: most problems are solved by email. I don’t take part in alternative dispute resolution procedures.
